When Your Hut is on Fire!

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost.. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?"

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

The Moral of This Story:
It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

This morning I rolled out of bed with a little less bounce than usual. I knew this day was coming, but it has arrived much too soon. Today I officially start packing. PACKING!! I'm not ready! Can this really be happening? Why me?!?

I decided, rather than jump right in, that I would hurry and check my e-mail. Boy was I glad that I did. This story had arrived just in time and it was exactly what I needed to hear. Joanna, you were inspired!

I know that things will work out. We are only moving a few miles away. It will be fun decorating a new house. All we need to do is wait for our ship to come in. I'm sure it's on it's way!

Our Living Room

Our Eating Nook

Master Bedroom

Master Bath

Golf Bathroom

I wanted to document the rooms in our house before they get too torn up. I will put up a few rooms every day or so.

Dear Daughter,
I love your house. It makes me sad to think of you leaving it, especially since you would rather not move. But, this I do know... in time you will make your new house into your cozy home where every room is "Lynellized" and special. As nice as it has been having your present house "all done", I think you will have fun fixing up your pretty new home little by little. Take heart.... my love and prayers are always with you. Mom

p.s. Maybe this really is your "smoke signal" like our flood was. There is no way that Dad and I would have gotten all new carpet and floors and redone most of our house if we had not been forced to by our flood.

Maybe Dathan would never have built the "dream" home for you that he's planned since college except this way. I know that it was meant for someone else to buy, but never the less, it will be yours now. You're in God's hands. All this praying that we've all been doing isn't for nothing.

Now, go pack. Your beautiful new home is waiting. I love you

I hear ya...change is something I do not cope with very well. The unkown is sometimes so scary. But once you jump the hurdle and make the change, you'll see things are just as they should be! Good Luck!

I love that story. It's good that you're taking pictures of your house before you leave it. I never really did do that of our first house, and I'm kicking myself.

And, sorry you're having such a rough time with everything. Refiner's fire. You'll look back one day at it all and see how much you grew.

Moving is a wrench and I can well imagine how hard it will be for you. Your home looks lovely, but never fear!! Your new home will be lovely too AND what fun you will have putting the stamp of your heart on it!!!

Awesome story, love that Joanna! Like the email about Malachi 3:3, the woman goes to a silversmith to find out about refining silver, and is told he has to watch it constantly so it's not destroyed by being in the fire too long... she asks how he knows when it's been the exact amount of time, and he says, "Oh, that's easy, when I see my image in it." HF knows what you're going thru, even if none of us completely know.

You have a lot of strength, and a lot of family support, you'll weather this storm without having to burn a house down! *wink*

If there's anything I can do, please let me know, even if it's taking the kids for a while! I can send Bryce over there to help! Need any boxes or moving tape or ... ?
