Justin is Off

It's official. Justin is now a soldier in the United States Army Reserves. The recruiter picked him up a little after 11:00 this morning with nothing but the pack on his back. We hugged, we cried and then he was off.
We let him choose his favorite meal last night. Burgers! I kinda thought he might pick something a little fancier. Nope not my Justin. We doctored them up with bacon, sauted mushrooms, roasted jalapenos and tomatoes from the garden. Delicious! Then we had a special Family Night. Dathan gave Justin a beautiful blessing. How grateful I am to have the priesthood in our home.

We had a family get together on Sunday. Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents all came to say goodbye. I didn't get very many pictures. Erin will you e-mail me the ones with you, Patrick and Cal?
Well my little boy is all grown up. Keep him in your prayers. I know these next few weeks will be rough.
Erin helped him set up a blog. We don't know when he will have access to a computer but if you will jump over and leave him a comment I know he would love it.

We'll keep him (and you) in our prayers. I'll have my hubby put his name on the Mormon Tab Choir prayer roll as much as you'd like!

My thoughts and heart have been with you all day...actually all week... I am so proud of him...I am sad...but I am also happy.

I know that he has been prayerful about this decision. I trust his judgement. I am sad for what he will have to go through but I know he will be blessed and come out of this experience an even better person..(if that is possible...he is pretty darn perfect as he is.)

I wish I could have been there today to kiss him goodbye and put my arms around you and give you love and support. Well I wasn't there in person, but I was there every minute in spirit.

I love you dear daughter. My prayers are with you and with Justin.

My prayers have been equally for you as they have been for Justin. I'm sure there is a strange silence in your house. You never experienced having a sibling leave home since you were the oldest in our family- But I know that it is tough to have an empty chair at the table. We love you! Please keep us posted!

After more thought, and thinking of how many of our prophets and general authorities have served our great country, I have felt there is a reason for our young men to be serving in this way. He will be guided and we'll always keep him in our prayers.

I've kept Justin in my prayers ever since your mum told me he was being picked up by the recruiter. I just know he will be a fabulous soldier. It's ironic that my baby is also going into the services soon and in the same trade as well. God bless these young men for the choice that they have made to serve their countries. I know exactly how you feel. It's a mixture of Pride and Fear. ((((hugs))))
