Half Empty?

I am having an "I feel sorry for myself" kind of day. To start off with I woke up with major allergies. AAaaaChoo! I have 5 (yes you read that right) 5 cold sores. I am bloated and crampy. And I just looked out the window and it is SNOWING! To make matters worse I have an appointment to take pictures at a pre-school today. Yippie! I get to take pictures of preschoolers all afternoon! Just imagine it. When I try to get them to smile, my lip will crack and start bleeding. I can't wait!!!

So, I stumbled down stairs to make breakfast and of coarse the first thing I see is this quote we have up on our fridge which reads:

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.

It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you...we are in charge of our attitudes.
Charles Swindoll

So, I have decided to put it to the test. I am going to see my glass as half full. I am so glad that it is cold today. I get to wear my baggy sweatshirt which means that no one will know that I can't button my pants. hee hee Wow! I am feeling better already.

Some days there won't be a song in your heart. Sing anyway! Emory Austin

Erin got me going on "The Secret" and the power of positive thinking. So, I'm all about the positive vibes right now! I tell myself everyday how hot I am. :) :) :)

I have taken on the positive attitude lately, trying to make myself happier. I have to say, it has made a difference with my family and this pregnancy. Thanks for sharing! Have a GREAT snowy, bloated, lip-crackin day!! =P

Oh! You poor girl! I hate allergies...I have em too...and yeah. It's snowing. Lame.
If i'm gonna have allergies, why can't I have them in springtime? Not spring/winter. It had better be nice outside if i'm hachoo'in.
Hope you're doing better! Life is good!

Ooooo, I really like that quote and need to read it on a daily basis.

And 5 cold sores would make anyone struggle with attitude.

Okay, so. I LOVE the quote. Need to print it and post it on my own fridge. Like now. My attitude at the moment is rotten.

As for the cold sores...got a story for you. Gracie gets them (poor girl) too. She usually doesn't pay much attention to them, but one day last week she came into the living room to talk to Jon and I with a box on her head. She had cut out eye holes so she could see and planned to wear it the next day at school because she had "one of those barrassing thingys". We convinced her to lose the box and put some medicine on it instead. Jon had a REALLY hard time keeping a straight face but he managed...

Hope your glass half full attitude continues...

I am SO sorry you had one of those days! I think the only good thing about a day like that is that it causes us to appreciate the good days even more!

I think you should get a half gallon of your favorite ice cream and eat it right out of the carton. That always makes me feel better!!

Tomorrow will be better, I just know it! Love ya!

I love your quote. I tried to convince 1000s of teens in the 22 years I taught about the importance of having a good attitude...("I can if I think I can".."Give a smile and it will come back to you."..etc.) I know that it is true....but just for your info...I love you cold sores, tight pants, grumpy attitude and all. You have always been my cheerful, full of life girl.
If you are having a bad day, manage a good attitude for family and friends, but don't worry about putting a smile on your face for me. Just call me and complain. I will give you all the empathy and verbal hugs I can muster. After all, what are moms for anyway? I love you dear. Mom

I know how you feel! Yesterday was a bad day! I have two major underground zits on my chin! PMS, and I am trying to loose weight and feel extra tired, My kids are lucky to be alive, J/K and my husband seems like a long lost stranger. I guess we are all human and God is really is testing us! At least you had that amazing quote to put you back on track and keep your attitude in check! You seem so awesome! I just love your posts! Hope tomarrow is better and if you ever need to get out of the snow you can always come visit me down south! You are always welcome! Take care, Loves, Kelsi

Lynell, you are one of the few people alive who are able to look on the bright side of a day when faced with 5 cold sores, bloated abdomens, and preschoolers. I wish I were able to do that. =) Love you!

So, how did your glass fare? Remember, it's okay to feel less than perfect, because I think you're terrific...cold sores, bloating and all!

I hate those days. Since being pregnant I swear I have no self esteem left. And I have had cold sores they are so painful but 5 at once! I am truly feeling for you.

ooooh Girlfriend!! If I had a dime for every time I've felt bloated and crampy in the morning I'd . . .

ok, I'm not quite sure how far I can go in finishing that sentence. Since Susan started her blog I've been (asked, told, directed, you pick) to read it and provide comments if I so desire. So I check out the blogs she's linked to and it's almost all women talking to women. It's all supportive, inspiring and sweet, which is great . . . if you're a woman. Guys support each other through mockery, sarcasm and humor. If I've got 5 cold sores I don't want to hear my friends say "Oh, cold sores, poor thing!" I want them to say "Dude! You look like Grendel from Beowulf, you're disgusting!" By saying that, I know they care. As much as guys can care.

So, let me apologize in advance for any offense I've caused or will cause in the future. I will self censor to the point I feel that is acceptable to a XX crowd. (That's XX as in chromosomes, not a pornography rating.)

Love your quotes. I am a half full glass kind of girl. Life is just so much nicer, no matter what's happening, if you can look for the tiny blessings and the bright side of things! Love your words as always. :-)

Dan! Dude! I couldn't agree more with your comment. When I am having "one of those days" nothing would make me happier than someone telling me that I looked like Angelina Jolie on Beowulf! Thanks for your inspiring words. =)

OK, I really needed to read that today. Life really is about attitude, and I need to do better about mine.

I hope you are feeling better and that your 5 cold sores have gone away. OUCH!
