We Need Not Dispare

We thank thee, O God for a prophet! I have been edified and uplifted. There is no doubt in my mind that President Thomas S. Monson is truly a Prophet of God. How grateful I am that I was able to sit in my home with my children and listen to his words during general conference. It was encouraging and I am determined to follow him.

We were invited to "cast off the old person and to measure up to the stature of true potential". And reminded that "change for the better can come to all". That is just what I needed to hear. It is so easy to get set in our ways. To be okay with things the way they are. But let's not settle, we can be better. We MUST be better! It is a choice.

He reminded us that "our homes are sanctuaries" and "storms stop at the door". Easier said than done! Sometimes it seems like I need to leave the house to escape the storm. How sad is that?! I need to make changes. How lucky I am to know that I am not alone. Because like Pres. Monson said, "God is at the helm". I know that with God all things are possible. I am learning to put my faith in Him. How blessed we are to be Latter-day Saints.

He started to wrap up his Sunday morning address with this:

"We are waging a war with sin my brothers and sisters. But we need not dispare. It is a war we can and will win."

Thank you President Monson. I feel it a pleasure to serve thee, And love to obey thy command.

I felt such a warm sense of gratitude for Pres. Monson and I truly felt the spirit witness that he is a true prophet of God! Thank you for your post, it is nice to know in a crazy world that there are still people who love the Lord, and who stand for what is right! I am glad to have a friend like you!

I especially loved how joyful and humorous Pres. Monson is. I know that he has had his fair, or even more than fair, share of hardships in life. I know that he has seen a lot of bad things, a lot of misery, saddness, etc. in his journeys. But through it all he remains joyful because of his ability to see things in an eternal perspective. He lives the verse: Men are that they might have joy.

LOVED conference!

Dearest Daughter,
I am thankful for your testimony. I am thankful for you.

Last Thur. when I'd finished working in the temple and was waiting for dad, I started talking to two other temple workers. Both are sweet ladies. Both are younger than I am and have been working in the temple for several years. I found out that both of them have children who have gone astray and they have lost contact with them. It is so sad.

I have always been thankful for each of you good, righteous children but as I soaked in the wonderful spirit of this marvelous conference, I was once again overwhelmed with appreciation for each of you. I don't know what I did to deserve you but I am eternally grateful. Thank you for being my Lynell. Thank you for being an example to me. Like you I am striving to become better. I love you. Mom

CAN I say your selected PERFECT quotes to share?

I joined the church nearly 10 years ago, this is the first Prophet I have had the pleasure of seeing sustained in such a way. There was a stirring in my soul, that I cannot describe, when all women of the Relief Society were asked to stand and cast their vote. I'm in the right place, the right church, the right family. What a blessing.

Thank you for your kind words on my blog..... I too strive to not let the storms brew in my home... but wow, what a task!

You have such a lovely family and page. I've only been a member for 9 years now, although I spent a lifetime pursuing my desire to do so (ex husband, long story) Anyways, like misty, this was my first time to witness a solemn assembly. This church is so amazing. I just can't understand why everyone doesn't get it??? I am so happy to find another church member who's also a blogger. I know there must be more of us out there, but finding you was like finding a lost treasure! :-)

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I always enjoy new visitors. I love to know how they happened upon my site and where they are from.
Interestingly when I clicked on your page, I find that you are LDS. What a small world...me too! I enjoyed conference this weekend also. It was all just what I needed to hear. Don't feel alone...I have to leave home to get away from the storm too sometimes.
Thanks again for the visit and for the conference reminders.
I love your family photos!

I so agree Lynell. I feel uplifted too. As much as I can with 3 little monkeys running around the whole time going, "Is this over yet?" and "Can I go play?" Such is life!

Thank you for your testimony. I also felt so encouraged by the talks that were given in conference. They help bring me back to the realization that there is hope. I can do better. I get stuck in a rut doing the same dumb things over and over. I needed the encouragement. Conference was just wonderful.
